#1 is here because the ,man who introduced me to the artist and her version of the song; Desmond Carrington, finally retired recently and took away another of the mainstays of my radio listening.
As I remember his saying, she was told that no woman was capable of perfroming this song adequately and, basically; though he stated it politely she told them, "Fucking listen to this then!"
And since, as far as I'm concerned, her version is the only one worth listening to; particularly this one which is the one that he played tthose four, or five years ago.
More than once when I discovered this, and since, I've had this on repeat, and it has carried my troubles away.
So it seems a good place to start.
